The Families of Harvey & Ola Young Simpson

Hi,

My name is Marylea Gazette and welcome to my family history section of the Faded web site.  I have always been interested in whom my ancestors were and where they came from and what made them pack up their family, sometimes in a wagon or on a ship, leave their home and strike out for parts unknown.

I would like to dedicate my portion of this web site to Harvey and Viola May Young Simpson, my maternal grandparents who I called Mam and Pap.  They were both born and raised in Wayne County, IL but their ancestors came there from all parts of the country.  In fact, after Mam and Pap were married they headed to Arkansas and then Iowa to raise their family.  After their children and their families left Iowa, they returned home to Wayne County and the family and friends that were still there. My sister and I have many happy memories of spending summer vacations and Christmas with Mam and Pap on the farm in Wayne County.  Pap taught us to drive the tractor, feed the cows, ring pigs and many more skills the average city child needs.  When I retired and had the time to devote to this need I had to discover where I came from, I sorted through all the boxes Mother had kept that belonged to Mam and Pap.  Mam keep everything, newspaper clippings, pictures, funeral cards, letters from family members and lots of other interesting memorabilia.  It has been a labor of love for me sorting and going through all of this information and attempting to create a history of their lives as well as their ancestors.

I hope you enjoy this memorial to them and return often as I will continue to add information and eventually be able to include my paternal grandparents and their equally as exciting ancestors.  Please contact me if you have any questions or wish to share your information and/or pictures, etc to be included in this web site.  I always give credit to the contributor and would be honored to include them.  I have tried to make this information as accurate as I could but if you discover any errors, please let me know as I want to make this information as accurate as possible.  I would also like to thank Michael Von Gebel for setting up this great web site and allowing me to be part of it.  Hope you enjoy all the great information that has been assembled by the many wonderful contributors to this web site.
